BT TV customers can use the BT TV app to watch live channels and shows on demand in line with their TV subscription via smartphone, tablet and laptop wherever they are. All at no extra cost as part of your BT TV package.

How does the app work?

To get started you'll need to be a BT TV customer with a valid BT ID that's been associated to your account.

- Chromecast what you're watching on the app to a big screen.
- Register the app on four devices rather than two.

Why can't downloads be unlimited if we have paid the price to own the film?

I do love having this app...when it works, which is about 80% of the time. But for example, have downloaded both Avengers Infinity War and Endgame. I have had to change phones a couple of times and now the three download limit has been reached for Infinity War and won't let me download it anymore. I have now downloaded Endgame for the third time. The first time didn't download properly and had glitches. The second time downloaded fine but then hit a glitch where it just wiped it off without me doing anything and so now I have no more downloads available again if someone inevitably goes wrong again. I just don't understand why if I have spent about £30 on two films, why I cannot download them whenever I want because of flaws from the BT TV app. It's just not good enough.

Hi. Thanks for getting in touch. For films that you have purchased, there is no limit on how many times you can download it - as long as you delete it each time. If you uninstall the app when the film is downloaded, you will lose that available "slot". If you change phone, you must remember to delete the download from the old phone, to allow it to be downloaded on the new one.
If it's too late to delete the download (e.g. you've uninstalled the app, or erased the device) then we can reset it, however any attempt to play a previous download may result in an additional movie purchase being charged to your account. Get in touch with us at tv.apps@bt.com if you'd like help.

Great App to complement BTTV's STB

This app has everything needed to complement the BTTV Youview STB. Content easy to find, slick UI, streaming of channels faultless and ability to remotely set recordings.

One thing I may add is that you are unable to stream any NOW TV channels through this app, meaning that the utility of this app is reduced considerably if you upgrade to BT's newer TV packs, which contain only AMC in addition to NOW TV channels. I can only hope that this app isn't phased away slowly with BT's seemingly gradual move towards offering NOW TV only packs (with removal of legacy packs, containing channels unavailable via NOW, but available on BT's legacy packs and streamed through BTTV's app, like Alibi). If this were to come to fruition, the only channel left to stream for this app would be AMC; the app would only then serve the purpose of providing the ability for setting of recordings remotely, much like the now-removed and closed, Youview app.

Apart from that future concern, great app!

Remote Record & Customised Guide

I have used the app for over four years since we joined BT, both the app and the TV service have improved over the years and I continue to be a very satisfied customer.
However I do have a query and a suggestion in which the app could be improved.

Firstly I have experienced certain programs unable to be remotely set to record, as an example, the first Grand Prix, Australia March 2020 (NowTV Sky Sports F1 channel) was able to be recorded however the pre race program was not. Having to then turn on the YouView box and find the program in the guide to set the recording makes it counterintuitive, especially if I'm not at home! Could you please fix this?

Secondly one of the best features added to the service was the update to allow the TV Guide to be customised, we have two boxes (a UHD box and a mini box), I have spent a considerable amount of time customising the guide to only show the channels I am interested in and subscribe to allowing for a shorter scroll and easier to find channels and programs, this would be a great feature within the app with the option to find the customised guide in the My TV section. The full guide could still be left in its current location.
By linking the app to the box, could the app pull the customised guide from the box?
